10:55pm: you know those moments of shift? where somehow, subtly, all the atoms in the air around you are just a tiny step away from where they were? i had one of those, and i'm not sure exactly when, although i could probably pinpoint a range of possible times, and it's like i've had a cornea transplant. everything looks just a little bit different, a little brighter and a little newer. all of a sudden, the rut i had been lamenting is gone.

11:58pm: new rule: never stumble into my deli at seven in the morning all sorts of drunk. it makes the days later highly uncomfortable. there are two other delis nearby. go there.
